Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Region Vintage Motorcycle Club Your Source for Vintage Racing in the Rockies
Provided by the Newby family
Welcome Vintage Race Fans to the 2008 Rocky Mountain Region Racing Season
** FIVE (5) AHRMA NATIONAL AND REGIONAL EVENTS IN TWO WEEKENDS **
For those of you who have aspirations of going after an AHRMA national and/or regional championship, there is still time. Four events required to qualify and your seven best finishes will determine your standing (not so good finishes can become throw-aways). Having this number of events within the Rocky Mountain Region reduces your travel costs when compared to traveling between the east and west coasts.
If you have not previously ridden the Mosteller event, you are in for a great weekend. The Bonneville Vintage GP is a new area for AHRMA trials and appears to be very promising. Both Fred Martinson and Jim Lipscomb have had a lot of experience setting vintage events and will provide fun and challenging sections for your riding pleasure.
Make your plans and we hope to see you there!!

****************************************************************************************************************** September 21st :
The Frametwisters M/C has added two vintage classes to our RMEC sanctioned Enduro in Trinidad on Sep 21. Being a vintage head myself, I convinced the club to add these classes so you all could have another place to break out the old iron this season.
Outline:
1) two classes only, '74 and earlier
and '75+ all w/drum brakes. All will run the "C" schedule, no rider
classification this time, run what ya brung and have fun!
2) No time keeping required, this is a
restart format, 3-4 riders per minute. You simply ride from the start to the
first test at a brisk but manageble pace, wait for your time to come up at
the test, race the test, then continue on to the next test.
3) We're on private land, so Spark
Arrestors are NOT required. MX bikes welcome.
4) The course is vintage bike friendly. It
consists primarily of sandy wash and river bottoms connected by praire
sections. Rocks are minimal. You will ride two loops, about 40 miles total.
Please come on out, show off your rides and
have a little fun. I told Pat Leahy what we were doing and he got excited
also. He says if we get a fair turnout, he'll add the same classes to his
event in Oct. at Milliken (same format). If you all have fun and we have
enough riders, we'll add rider classifications next year and perhaps get a
couple more events to pick it up also.
Please pass this on to any interested
parties, call me or send a note w/any questions.
Thanks!
George Pennington

September 5
Saturday, September 6
Riding fee: $40, each day Gate Fee: Free Camping: Free
The Trial is being held in Davenport Canyon which is located in the Stansbury Range, about 10 miles west of the Miller Motorsport Park. This is private land owned by the Grantsville Soil Conservation District. There is a large National Forest tract adjacent to our site. There is primitive camping located on both tracts of land. The National Forest has both improved camp site (fee) and primitive (no fee). There is an improved camping area about 3 miles away from our Trial site with concrete slabs, tables, and toilets. It is located by the reservoir and there is no fee for its use. A stocked reservoir is adjacent to this camping area. Fishing boats are allowed, but not combustion engines, so electric only. The dirt road to the site is well maintained and suitable for big rigs. However, the camp sites may be difficult for maneuvering larger rigs. Those with larger rigs may wish to park by the reservoir and ride up to the Trial site (about 3 miles) for a closer inspection. Those with pickup style campers and small trailers should not have any problems. Loop info: The loop will be between 5900 msl and 6500 msl. Daytime temps of 50 – 70 degrees and nights between 25 – 40 degrees. It can and has snowed on these dates as recently as two years ago. So be prepared to ride in good, bad or ugly conditions. I can see the smiles on the faces of all our ex-pat UK riders now. Directions To Miller Motorsport Park: Maps and Directions From the Miller Motorsport Park: Maps and Directions Leave MMP and turn north on Sheep Lane for1.2mi; turn left on W. Erda Way for 1.9mi; join U-138 westbound for 3.7mi; turn left on West Street (400 West) for 0.8mi; continue on Mormon Trail Rd for 2.9mi; turn right on North Willow Road. Follow the paved road 0.5mi to the improved camping area, or continue straight onto the dirt road to Davenport canyon, about 3.5 mi. Lat/Lon info For the satellite mapping geeks among us, here are coordinates that may help your orientation: Improved camping: N40 32 37.75, W112 30 43.39; Pits: N40 32 37.99, W112 34 11.40 Team Competition: A team competition will also be held at this event which will provide the riders the opportunity to compete for a team award in addition to their individual class competition. Each team will consist of three (3) riders and must include: one expert, one intermediate, and one novice rider. Riders may get together to identify and form their own team(s) or an individual rider may sign-up and be placed on an available team. Riders may participate on more than one team; however, an additional entry fee is required for each team. Team name(s) are not required but are encouraged (and should be printable in a family publication). Team entry fee: $5 per rider, per team. Team entry fees will be used to cover the cost of team awards. Award presentations will immediately follow the event each day.
