1979 Maico Magnum 400 For Sale

Professionally built with ’81 forks with Maico Only rods, legal travel and shorter ’79 steering stem, Maico Only / Thor aluminum swingarm, Works Perfomance shocks, Maico Only pipe, silencer and pegs, Mikuni, aluminum rear hub drilled to accept ’81 sprockets, Sun rims with Buchanan spokes, Rage Racing shifter and case saver, Renthal bars and powdercoated frame. Cylinder has been cleaned up and matched, but porting is stock. Clutch redone by Lynn Shoup at Rage Racing last season. Gas tank in great shape.

The bike was then purchased in the Winter of 2007 by the present owner and completely gone through by Carlos Serrano. New Wiseco Pro Lite piston and bore job (1 hour on it), forks gone through and shocks dyno’d by Carlos Serrano, all new fenders, number plate and side panels, motor and transmission dissassembled and gone thru, new chain and sprockets, new air filter, new throttle assembly, new cables, and new Wheelsmith style clutch spring (not washers).

A great looking, solid, race winning bike. This bike was a 2006-2007 AVDRA Class Champion. It combines the legendary handling of the Magnum, the great front forks from the ’81 Mega, and the silky smoothness of the 400 motor. Many photos available.

So I am selling my dream machine...My wife told me last fall that if I had to have another surgery because of this bike she was going to put her foot down. Well, I herniated another disc in my neck and surgery is scheduled for the end of this month and the bike is for sale. Here are the specs, boo hoo:

-Flatland Racing full skid plate, -Flatland Racing radiator guards, -DH Racing rear rotor guard, -'04 YZ450 exhaust cam, -Zip-Ty hot start , JD Jetting kit (for high altitude), -YZ subframe, everything has been powder coated factory blue), -Both front and rear suspension have been rebuilt by Race Tech, -YZ timed, -Scotts Fuel Screw (for fine tuning), -YZ silencer (repacked last summer), -FMF Hi-Flo header, -Enduro Engineering hand guards, -Pro Taper SE bars. 3600 obo. 2003 Yamaha motocross YZ450F four-stroke, vin: JYACJ03C53A006497, blue, with # 15 on the number boards, has oversize Pro-taper bars in Emig triple clamps, SDS aftermarket seat, otherwise mostly stock.
